The Saint Patrick's Trust was set up in January 2006 by Frank Gormley (founder of Howard Eurocape), as a means of representing the strengthening relationship between the Irish and South African communities and recognising the similarity of their plights.
Frank asserts that the situation of South African is similar but also conversely, completely contradictory to the one Ireland has experienced.
Both countries lacked one piece of an equation for success; Ireland had the basic social security of housing and education but lacked the resources and infrastructure to utilise these benefits to its advantage.
South Africa however, currently lacks the security of good housing and education but has an abundance of resources with potential for success. The St Patrick's Trust has therefore been established to allow for corporate social investment that supports organisations that address these critically important needs of Education, Healthcare and Housing.
The Saint Patrick's Trust places great emphasis on the enabling of African Communities. This is conducted in a manner that is beneficial to both the individual and the community at large. The trust initiates, promotes and encourages a sustained and lasting benefit from empowerment by building knowledge in communities.
